On 23rd March, Year 12 student, Georgina, took part in the International Cicero Translation Competition.
The competition took place in Bristol, one of four centres in the UK. Liverpool, London and Edinburgh also had centres, as did Italy, France, Spain and Australia, among other countries. On the day students were given a passage of Cicero to translate into good English and they also listened to a lecture by Genevieve Liveley from Bristol University on Fierce Creatures Running Wild in Classical Myth. The translations were then sent off to an international judge. Georgina was commended for her translation, among stiff competition, and she is to be congratulated on this fantastic achievement. A certificate will be presented in due course.
