English Society discuss dystopian fiction

English SocietyIt was a busy week in the English Department, not only did the Sixth Form have their excellent day out in Stratford, but we also held our English Society meeting.

It was organised by the English prefects, Rose and Georgia, and the theme was dystopian fiction. We gathered on Monday evening for gourmet pizzas from Antica Roma and a glass of wine, and staff and girls brought along their choice of a piece of seminal dystopian writing. These included extracts read aloud from Orwell’s Animal Farm, Nineteen Eighty Four, Margaret Atwood’s A Handmaid’s Tale, and Kafka’s Metamorphosis.
