The first weekend in school kicked off with a fabulous inter-company event for all ages with a wide range of fun activities! Inflatable fun on the sports field included a rodeo bull, surf board, bungee run, jousting and an assault course. All the girls were able to have a go and try and beat their opposing companies. Records were set on the rodeo bull by Amy (Year 7) who stayed on for 53 seconds, and on the surf board by Jemima (Year 10) who stayed on for a whopping 1 minute 45 seconds. We also had some excellent scenes and fun using the sumo wrestling suits, with most games ending in laughter and a large heap on the floor.
Other activities included inter-company bubble football and capture the flag, to allow students to show more of their competitive side (and end up upside down if they so wished)! This was led by Mrs Lovell and was located on the astroturf, where everyone was also able to enjoy the glorious sunshine. The final activity to get everyone dancing was a year group 'silent disco', using the new school owned disco headsets. There was an array of music on the three available playlists, allowing for all music tastes. This was accompanied by delicious candy floss and popcorn, to keep energy levels up throughout the exciting afternoon.
Best dance move prizes were awarded to Sage and Heidi (Year 7), Claire and Sophie (Year 8), India (Year 9) and Willow (Year 10).
Many thanks to all the student Heads of Company for their brilliant ideas and organisation - Thea, Kirsten, Momo, Ella and Hannah. Also a huge thank you goes to Mrs Lovell, Mrs Baldwin, Ms Dunkin and Mrs Rothwell for all their support, enthusiasm and help running and organising the day.
Miss Clare Bloomer, Head of Poore Company
