ACADEMIC Scholarships and Bursaries

Talent and ambition come in many forms. Scholarships recognise and develop a pupil’s individual strength. Bursaries make it possible for more girls to access the life-changing opportunities of a St Mary’s Calne education.

Recognising talent and promise

Scholarships are awarded to pupils who demonstrate outstanding ability and potential. They are offered in academic, all-round, art, drama, music (including choral) and sport at 11+, 13+ and Sixth Form entry. Bursaries are means-tested and may be awarded alongside scholarships.

Award holders are supported with enrichment activities and mentoring to inspire ambition and help them share their talents across school life. Scholarships are reviewed annually to ensure scholars continue to make the most of their opportunities.

Tailored financial support

Families seeking financial support are invited to apply for a bursary. Our aim is to widen the opportunity to attend St Mary’s Calne to more families whose daughter would otherwise not be able to attend. Our annual bursary support is limited and demand usually exceed available funding.

Bursaries are:

  1. Means-tested, with the level of support dependent on individual circumstances.
  2. Reviewed annually, to reflect any change in financial situation.
  3. Available alongside scholarships, so a girl may be both a scholar and a bursary recipient

Applications for bursaries are confidential between the school and family.

Families are guided carefully through the process by our Admissions and Finance Teams. The aim is to offer places to pupils who will both benefit from, and contribute to, the life of the school.

Recent bursary recipients are currently studying at leading UK universities including classics at Oxford, aerospace engineering at University of Manchester and politics at Warwick University.

Military families

We welcome applications from military families looking for a full boarding school for their daughter. Reduced fees are offered to UK military families.

Fees

Details of tuition and boarding fees, along with what’s included, can be found on our dedicated fees page.
