On Monday (8/6), St Mary’s hosted our annual Junior Lacrosse Festival, welcoming more 100 children from local schools for an energetic day of learning and fun through Lacrosse.
The day began with an indoor warm-up session featuring balloons, which quickly got everyone moving with challenging activities. As the rain eased, the players headed outside onto the pitches for their coaching sessions, led by our LV students. Participants were introduced to the fundamentals of lacrosse, including throwing, catching and scooping the ball, while developing skills.
Following a short break, the coaching continued with an introduction to the rules of the game and opportunities for players to put their new skills into practice. The reminder of the day was filled with matches, allowing everyone to experience friendly competition.
It was wonderful to see how quickly the players progressed throughout the day with some impressive skills on display, alongside excellent sportsmanship and teamwork, plenty of future Lacrosse stars in the making.
A huge thank you to our LV and UV students for their outstanding coaching and officiating throughout the day, and to Mrs Bolton for helping to organise such a successful event.
