The Lower School is excited to be taking part in this year’s Calne Duck Race. One of Calne’s biggest community events, the race is organised by the Calne Lions Club and sees hundreds of ducks set off along the River Marden in aid of charity.
St Mary’s Lower School and St Margaret’s have both entered the Ducklings Race, open to nursery, primary and secondary schools. Each school decorates a large decoy duck, competing for the ‘Best Dressed Duckling’ title as well as 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the race.
The Lower School has held an internal competition on the theme of ‘Life in the Lower School’ to select their final design, which will be revealed soon.
The event is free to attend, attracting hundreds of families who line the riverbanks to cheer on the racing ducks. The action begins at 11am, with the Ducklings Race being the second race of the day.
Duck Race visitors can also enjoy a range of community stalls in the Wharf Gardens (say hello to the Nursery team!) along with children’s activities and group stalls in the Pocket Park.
