Listeners were treated to a glorious selection of music set to beat the winter blues at January’s Music@Lunch informal concert. Allison L (Upper Sixth, violin) opened the programme with a richly warm rendition of Adoration, followed by a charming and lively performance of Happy Talk by Charlotte R (MIV, voice).
Jemima J (LV, violin) and Matilda J(MIV, violin) then presented an enchanting duet of Mendelssohn’s Nocturne, before Teyla B (UIV, cello) gave a stunning rendition of Dance of the Elves, in which it seemed her fingers were flying around the cello.
The concert concluded with an exquisitely tranquil performance of the slow movement from Beethoven’s Pathétique Sonata, beautifully played on the piano by Kate T (MIV).
Each musician presented themselves with great professionalism and brought real joy to the audience, who left smiling after a wonderful collection of performances.
The next Music@Lunch performance is on Tuesday 3 March in the Chapel at 1.45pm.
