Award-winning musical ‘Operation Mincemeat’ a real treat for Drama Scholars
As part of their annual programme of experiencing live theatre, the Drama Scholars enjoyed a performance of Operation Mincemeat, the 2024 Olivier Award-winning Best New Musical, at the Theatre Royal Bath on Wednesday 11 March. Here, Anna H (LV) shares her review of the show:
‘The musical was astonishing and very entertaining, even for those who already knew the story, which was set during World War 2. However, most of us – including me – were watching with anticipation to find out what happened next. It told the story of how a dead body was used by the British Army used a dead body to act as a decoy for an invasion, and to confuse the Nazis.
The main characters were the team who came up with the plan. The super-talented cast was multi-rolling as sailors, German soldiers, London clubbers and more besides. The songs were great and the choreography was amazing.
Afterwards, we went out for pizza, which was delicious, and had a fun time chatting and playing games. Thank you so much Mr Ellis and Mrs Friend for this wonderful trip.’
