This week, Mrs Wilby launched the 2026 St Mary’s Calne Songwriting Competition with exciting news of a special visit in March.

We are delighted to be welcoming professional singer-songwriter Georgina Callaghan to St Mary’s Calne to speak to students about her life and work as a professional singer-songwriter.

Georgina recently moved from the United States to the Cotswolds, though she continues to tour regularly in America and is a frequent performer across the UK, where her music is often heard on BBC Radio 2.

During her visit, students will have the opportunity to hear Georgina perform some of her work, explore songwriting techniques and learn first-hand her experiences in the music industry.

For our aspiring songwriters, the annual Songwriting Competition is now open for entries. Submissions may be in any style or format, using any combination of live and digital instruments. Each entry must include a vocal part and a lyric sheet. The closing date is May Half Term. All entries, as well as any questions, should be submitted to Miss Wilby.
