As the Summer Term came to a close, our Heads of Sport, Esme H and Issy P, presented a Sports Chapel to the school community, celebrating the many successes of the 2025–26 academic year. As another jam-packed year of sport drew to a close, it was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the fantastic sporting achievements across the school:
‘Firstly, a huge well done to our Tennis teams. Across the season, an incredible 25 teams represented the school and played a total of 82 matches. Well done to everyone who took part with such commitment and enthusiasm throughout the season, it has been truly amazing. We want to send best of luck to the senior tennis squad who will be representing our school in the ISTA tennis championships next week. Good luck!
Athletics has also had a brilliant year, with athletes competing in three major meets in Bath. We would particularly like to congratulate Charlotte Piggin, who progressed to the next stage of competition and represented Wiltshire in the 800m at the South-West Championships in Exeter. This is a fantastic achievement!
Of course, we can’t talk about sport this term without mentioning Sports Day. It was great to see so many people taking part and giving it their all in a range of different events and challenges. It was the first time the Lower Sixth have been involved in so many events – well done to those who set new records. A huge congratulations to Moberly who won overall and, most importantly, to the teachers who won the tug-of-war against the parents.
Also, well done to the under 15 cricketers who won the Wiltshire County championships in the ECB U15 girls indoor cricket tournament. They also then went onto have a fantastic win against Bryanston in the national T-20 competition of which they were eventually knocked out the national champions, Canford. We have also had a number of girls who have enjoyed weekly training sessions at Avebury cricket club.
We also want to celebrate a superb performance in our equestrian team who represented Wiltshire at the national showjumping finals at Hickstead where Eliza, Sophia, Octavia and Amelia all jumped clear rounds to secure 2nd place, and competed against all the counties across the country. An impressive performance, well done to all.
Finally, thank you to all students who have represented the school this year, and it goes without saying that none of this could have happened without the staff who have organised matches and coached and supported teams so a massive thank you to them too.‘
