Last Thursday (18/6) we had our annual Summer Music Showcase in Chapel which is always a highlight for me. With students put in pairs or groups for our summer Chamber Music Programme it is always a fun evening with a variety of music on show and I feel that it really encapsulates the spirit of the Music Department.
We were also fortunate enough to have solo performances from two of our Music Scholars – Kate T, MIV, playing the first movement of the Beethoven Pathetique, which is an incredible achievement at her age, and Teyla B, UIV, playing Piazzolla’s Le Grand Tango which is also a considerable achievement. Both performances were of an incredibly high standard and this really set the tone for the evening.
With lovely student-led and staff-led ensembles on show, we are so grateful to all the students and parents that came to support to round off what has been a very busy year in music. Wishing you all a lovely summer.
