On Friday 19 June, Senior MUN club attended the Marlborough MUN day conference. This was a great opportunity for all of us to have a wonderful experience of Model United Nations. Dr Wickson supported us throughout the whole process and helped us to feel more confident.
At the beginning, we were all quite nervous as we walked into the room. Everyone was dressed formally and seemed very experienced. It felt intimidating at first, especially knowing we would have to speak in front of other delegates in different rooms. However, our teacher reassured us and reminded us that it was okay to make mistakes as it was our first time.
When the sessions started, we made some opening speeches. We have been preparing for it since the start of Spring Term, but I still felt a bit nervous. After speaking, we realised it wasn’t as bad as we expected, and it made us feel proud.
As the debates continued, we became more talkative and began to take part. We started to understand how MUN works—raising points, responding to others, and sharing ideas. There were also some funny parts such as the gossip bucket which we read out at the end. When the next resolution came up, we felt more confident about making our own points in support of Italy.
One of the best parts was working together and meeting new people from other committees. We discussed different ideas, raised questions, and learned how to cooperate. It was not just about debating but also about communication and problem solving.
By the end of the experience, we all felt delighted, our teacher was super proud of our progress. Overall, it was a great learning experience, and we would definitely like to take part in MUN again in the future.
