What a wedding! It was the most eagerly anticipated romantic and social event of the year at St Mary’s Calne, and it did not disappoint. Of course I’m not writing about that other minor event that took place at Windsor on Saturday. No. I write about the mock wedding that the entire Year 10 enjoyed during their period 1 Religious Studies GCSE lesson on Saturday, 19th May.
The soon departing Year 13 girls were treated to a farewell afternoon tea by their Geography teachers this term.
On the evening of 15th May, some of our girls set off to see Hamlet at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London.
Friday 11th May marked the final day for the Year 7 and Year 8 girls to enjoy watersports at the Cotswold Water Park, as part of their 'Challenge and Adventure' course.
On Thursday 10th May, six members of St Mary’s Young Enterprise company, ‘The Hungry Tin', represented the school at the Wiltshire County Final.
After taking care of 50 European eels (elvers) for the past month, the Year 7 girls had the opportunity to take part in the release event into the river Marden.
On 8th May, girls in the LVI (Year 12) who are considering applying to Oxbridge, took part in an evening which sought to expand and challenge their thinking.
On 3rd May, the Year 7 and Year 8 girls set off on their much anticipated two-day 'Camp and Walk'.
Bronze DofE expeditions were postponed this year by the snow in March, however the LV girls have all now successfully completed their delayed Bronze Practice Expeditions in partnership with Wild Country Consultants over two weekends in April.
After being spoilt last week with the weather, on the second week of Challenge and Adventure (CAA) at Cotswold Water Park the girls had to show their true grit to get out on the lake.
After her Duke of Edinburgh's silver training, Year 11 pupil, Harriet, decided to cycle back from Calne to her home (90km) to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
On Thursday 26th April, over 40 girls from across the school went out to take part in slum-style football with the founder of the OSCAR Foundation (Organization for Social Change, Awareness and Responsibility), Ashok Shankar Rathod, in advance of us hosting girls from the #kicklikeagirl tour in the Autumn Term.
Girls from Art, Drama and Music gathered in Top Hall on the evening of 25th April for a celebration of the Arts. It was the turn of the Music Department to host the evening, and the Guest Speaker was Calne Girl Holly Manners (2011). Holly works as an A & R (Artists and Repertoire) at Warner Bros Records UK, which looks after artists including Dua Lipa, Liam Gallagher and Royal Blood.
On 20th April, all the LIV and MIV girls started their three-week summer programme of water sports at Cotswold Water Park.
