Congratulations to the girls at St Mary’s Calne on another fantastic set of GCSE and IGCSE Level results. Overall, in the reformed subjects, an impressive 32% of entries received the new, tougher, 9 grade. There was a total of 58% A*s (where 8/9s are included as the equivalent of A*). In the unreformed subjects, 53% of the girls achieved A*s and in the reformed subjects, 62% of the girls were awarded 8/9 grades.
Congratulations to the girls at St Mary’s Calne on an excellent set of A Level results, with 29% of the girls achieving straight A*s / As, among them Head Girl Farida Adewale (pictured), who secured her place to read Chemistry at Lincoln College, Oxford. Twins Alice and Clara Wade both secured their places at Oxford University – Alice to read Fine Art at Worcester College and Clara to read Biological Sciences at Jesus College. Special mention must go to Alexandra Tsylnitska who secured her place to read Economics at Cambridge University (Christ’s College) with 4 A*s and to Imogen Davis, who will be reading History at Newnham College, Cambridge.
On 2nd July, 14 LVI (Year 12) pupils left school to travel to the Yorkshire Dales, ready to start their Gold DofE expedition.

On Saturday 30th June, our departing UVI (Year 13), their families and friends gathered on a beautiful sunny evening to enjoy the annual Lily Ball - the highlight of the Summer Term and the final event for our Leavers.
On Wednesday 20th June, the LVI (Year 12) geographers travelled to Dartmoor to conduct their fieldwork investigation as part of their non-examined assessments which make up 20% of their A Level.
This term, the LVI (Year 12) Art Historians have been studying the career of pioneering American artist Georgia O’Keeffe. Given that the examination of this ‘American Modern’ in her wider cultural and social context occupies such a crucial place in the new A Level specification, the rare opportunity to view the work of O’Keeffe alongside those of her contemporaries was too good to miss.
On Monday 25th June, one unfaithful Jupiter and another kingly one, three jealous goddesses and Mercury, several nymphs and huntsmen, a self-obsessed Narcissus and a happy newly-wed couple all set off from St Mary’s to Bristol Grammar School for the annual Latin Play Competition
On Thursday 21st June, the MIV girls (Year 8) travelled to the Dorset Coast to carry out Geography Coastal Fieldwork; consolidating work completed in the classroom. The weather was perfect, warm and sunny with a light northerly breeze which kept temperatures down a little.
On Monday 18th June, the LVI (Year 12) Psychology class had the excellent opportunity to meet two Calne Alumnae, Charlotte and Georgia, who are studying Psychology at Manchester and Cardiff University respectively.
On Wednesday 20th June, the Head Girl’s Team held a fundraising day to support the OSCAR Foundation’s upcoming #kicklikeagirl football tour.
The LIV (Year 7) girls had an excellent week (11th-15th June) of challenges and pushing boundaries in water and at great heights at ‘Adventure International’ in Bude with a team of superb instructors, along with Mrs Thompson, Mrs Muir, Miss Stephens and Miss Garnock.
On Monday 11th June, as part of Enrichment Week, the LV (Year 10) girls studying Geography GCSE set off for Dartmoor on their fieldtrip.
On 11th June, 27 very excited Year 8 girls (wearing bright purple hoodies) left Calne to go to the Isle of Wight. The sun shone all week and the girls took part in lots of interesting activities.
