Congratulations to the 19 Sixth Form girls who successfully completed their Gold Final Expeditions in the Yorkshire Dales in July.  From their base at Hawes Youth Hostel, they set out in four Teams on varied routes, some initially heading East toward Newbiggin and Buckden and others South to Horton. Overcoming the challenges of steep hills, featureless moorland, head high bracken, varied weather, swarms of midges and many cows, and carefully observed by their assessors, they completed four, eight-hour walking days with three nights camping in between, to emerge triumphant at the finish at Settle. We, and their assessors, were very impressed with their team work and perseverance and hope they will now go on to complete the remaining sections of their Gold Awards.
