Last weekend was a very busy one for our Fourth Form girls (Years 7-9), with birthday celebrations, sport, Christmas crafts, karaoke and more!
The Harbour Project is a small charity, based in Swindon, that aims to help asylum seekers and refugees rebuild their lives. They provide support, practical help and friendship to their visitors, so that they have the best possible chance of a fair future in the UK. As a school, we have chosen to support The Harbour Project during Charity Week.
Congratulations to Year 12 pupil, Marguerite, who is currently completing a cycling challenge (500 miles through trips to school and back) to raise money for Calne Community Transport.
Anti-Bullying Week 2020 started on Monday 16th November. The theme for this year is 'United Against Bullying' and the girls and staff showed their support by wearing odd socks on Monday's 'Odd Socks Day'.
Chloe and Isla in the LVI (Year 12) were very pleased to have the opportunity to meet Mr Kevin Wells from the Calne Food Bank on Teams last week and ask him more about the workings of the charity, following on from his recent visit to St Mary’s to support our Mufti Day and Harvest Festival collection for the Food Bank.
It's been a very busy weekend for all of the girls in school, who have enjoyed a whole host of activities in their year group bubbles.
Despite lockdown, we were delighted to invite Dr Phillippa Spencer from the Defence, Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) to talk to us, albeit virtually, about her work at the Ministry of Defence.
On Sunday 8th November the Sixth Form held a Remembrance Service in honour of those who lost their lives fighting for our future.

On the evening of Tuesday 3rd November, Sixth Form girls gathered in Chapel for the last 'live' Calne Girls' Association Talk - for a little while at least. The talk was given by 2003 Leaver and World Marathon Challenge winner, Susannah Gill.
The UVI (Year 13) Gold DofE Teams went on their Gold practice over the October Half Term, having missed out on their expedition in the summer. They certainly got right into the stride with their navigation, coping with the more mountainous walking extremely well.
During last Half Term’s Donaldson Week, the MIV and UIV (Years 8 and 9) girls had the immense privilege of welcoming to the school two hugely inspiring speakers.
