On Thursday 24th November, three girls from the LVI Young Enterprise group sold their products at the Bowood House Christmas Extravaganza.
One Wednesday 23rd November, the Debating Society went to Stonar School to compete in round one of the English-Speaking Union (ESU) Mace Debating competition.
On 28th November, the LVI Government and Politics students enjoyed an excellent day at the Houses of Parliament, hosted by James Gray MP.
The Senior Team Maths Challenge, run by the Further Maths Support Group in conjunction with the UK Maths Trust, took place at Hardenhuish School on 22nd November.
On Saturday 19th November, the school sent its first ever teams (delegations) to a Model United Nations Conference. This was hosted superbly by Malvern St James School who had clearly put months of hard work into it.
On the evening of 22nd November, we were delighted to welcome Old Girl, Arabella Dorman, Portrait Painter and War Artist, who gave a lecture on Art and War.
On Saturday 19th November, the girls in Gibbins House had a social with Abingdon School, which had been organised by the House Staff.
Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag Franzi! (Happy Birthday Franzi!) Ever tried making the Brandenburg Gate out of spaghetti and marshmallows? How about singing ‘happy birthday’ in German? The Year 5 students visiting St Mary’s on 18th November tried these, and many other fun activities, as part of ‘Franzi’s Birthday Party’, an inventive approach to introducing young students to German language and culture.
On Monday 21st November, we were delighted to award prizes in Chapel to some of our new girls for their high achievement in the 13+ Entrance Examinations, 2016.
On Thursday, the Sixth Form Psychology students put on an evening of activities and presentations for the UIV and UV students.
This year Grosstete's Company Supper was themed 'Slumber Party'. Everyone looked fantastic in their slumber gear; pyjamas and dressing gowns were in no shortage!
On Sunday 13th November, the UVI Form led the annual school Remembrance Service. The Chapel looked stunning, with both the altar covered in tea lights and the aisles decorated with candles in jam jars which were surrounded by poppy petals. With the lights dimmed and the candles lit, the atmosphere was perfect and suitably reflected the poignancy of the occasion.
