On Monday, the sun was shining and a hint of spring was in the air as the Major Minors Children's Choir performed their Spring Concert to a 'full house' at the Southwell Hall, St Margaret's Prep. Led by Musical Director, Mrs Bethan Dudley Fryar (also Head of Vocal Studies at St Mary's Calne), the Major Minors Children's Choir is a community partnership initiative for boys and girls in Years 3 to 6, with students from eight local primary schools taking part.

Over the Spring Term, the choir have grown in confidence and have explored harmony in a number of different ways, which they have really enjoyed. The choir also encourages its members to share their musical talents by performing for each other. We were delighted to include a young pianist, Holly, in this term's concert.

Thank you to Mr Bromwich and the team at St Margaret’s for hosting the Spring Concert and giving a lovely warm welcome to all of the choir’s supporters.

Here, members of the LIV, who attended the concert, report of the experience:

'We went to see the Major Minor Children's Choir perform at St Margaret's Prep. We were fascinated by the amount of effort they put in and the passion they showed. They performed a wide variety of songs including Pure Imagination from Wonka, River Lullaby and No Matter What. We were thrilled to see their teamwork and hear the harmony from their little voices.

At the end of this wonderful Spring Concert, they all congratulated each other. Also, there was a lovely and supportive audience filled with parents, families and friends.

Overall, this was an incredible performance from students of a wide range of primary schools around Calne.' Jessica H and Suri, LIV

Mrs Dudley Fryar, added: 'We are all very proud of what Major Minors have achieved this term and I would like to congratulate every single child for a magnificent contribution. The most moving aspect for me is seeing all the children come together from different schools and create such a feeling of togetherness through music. Major Minors is definitely a magical choir with dedicated singers and families. Thank you all!'
