Completed in May 2018, the state-of-the-art Sports Hall was the final phase of Calne Foundation Trust’s Vision for Sport and it has fast become an invaluable asset to St Mary’s and St Margaret’s Schools for a variety of sporting activities, particularly in wet weather.
Our Sports Hall hosts a number of indoor games and sports, including basketball, badminton, cricket (with cricket nets and enhanced lighting), hockey, lacrosse, netball and climbing.
The 34 x 20 metre Sports Hall has been designed to accommodate a variety of different sports in one space. We have the ability to divide the hall into two halves or four courts (for badminton), host large scale fitness classes, and use kick boards to enable the hall to accommodate indoor hockey. The Sports Hall has been fitted with a sprung junkers flooring and all equipment complies with National Governing Body standards across all sports. The Sports Hall also boasts luxurious underfloor heating which provides a warm and comfortable environment to exercise in, whatever the weather.
In addition to our school clubs (such as our Running & Triathlon Club) the Sports Hall is also open to community groups and we already have associations with Calne Netball Club, Wiltshire Cricket and Calne Basketball Club - to name a few.
