Joyce Walters is one of the Fifth Form Boarding Houses; we look after girls who are studying in UV Form (their second year studying for their GCSEs). The girls are given their own rooms to encourage good study habits. House is open throughout the day and evening so girls may come and study at any time when they don't have lessons. This encourages the girls to study more independently.

The girls stay in their Fifth Form Boarding House for the full two years of their GSCEs to avoid disruption, and so they can focus on their studies and their co-curricular activities.

House Tutors from amongst the academic staff also come in during the evening. The system of House Tutors works well, giving students an opportunity to meet with teaching staff in a more informal environment.

Communication between parents and House Staff is paramount. Mrs Tod will be delighted to speak with you and can be reached either by telephone on 01249 857280 or by mobile phone on 07980 978252. Joyce Walters House

The House is named after Joyce Walters who was Head of St Mary’s from 1972 until 1985, which was when the House opened. It is nestled among the other senior Houses of the school with stunning gardens and fabulous trees surrounding it. There is also a private courtyard garden for the girls to enjoy.

The girls in UV Form are encouraged to be independent and therefore have their own washing facilities and fully equipped kitchen.
