As the UK celebrates Volunteers’ Week (2nd – 8th June), we’re shining a spotlight on our incredible students who give their time and talents to support our local community – and we could not be more proud of their efforts and enthusiasm in this area.
Our LVI Chemistry students had the exciting opportunity to visit the Chemistry Department at the University of Bath, accompanied by Ms Skelhorn and Mrs Wilson. The trip was designed to deepen students’ understanding of the analytical techniques used to identify organic molecules - skills that will be essential for their A Level studies next year.
On Wednesday 21 May, St Mary’s and St Margaret’s enjoyed their annual Cricket Festival with 100 students from years 5 to 8 enjoying cricket across both school sites and matches at Avebury Cricket Club.
We were privileged to welcome renowned pianist and composer Pamela Chilvers to St Mary’s Calne for a Piano Masterclass, hosted by Head of Keyboard Studies Mr Mark Sandon-Williams, giving some of our aspiring pianists a unique chance to refine their technique and perform for a respected musician.
Our first-ever Grow Club Plant Sale on Friday 23 May was a huge success. Grow Club members worked hard over the preceding weeks and months - sowing seeds, watering them, and carefully tending to each plant before potting them on, ready for sale.
On Friday 23 May, St Mary’s Guides joined girls from 1st Calne for a six-day camp at the Girlguiding Wiltshire North County Campsite, where they enjoyed outdoor skills, fun activities, and new friendships.
On Tuesday 20 May, we welcomed local Sixth Form students to join our LVI students for a Competitive Applications Afternoon focused on preparing for top university courses through expert advice, academic challenges, and practical guidance.
Our U18 cricketers played a thrilling T20 match against Godolphin at Avebury Cricket Club in the School Sport Magazine T20 Cup.
It’s been an exciting time for our equestrian enthusiasts, with one student achieving impressive competition success and others gaining inspiration from one of the sport’s top international events.
We’re off to a cracking start with our Honk Jr. rehearsals this term, and this year’s Junior Production is shaping up to be truly eggs-cellent!
