We have an opportunity for a friendly, safe and flexible driver to join our logistics team for ad hoc minibus driving duties alongside one prep school afternoon bus run on most term time days * (currently 16.30-17.30).  We have a fleet of five, 16-seater transit buses and one smaller 9-seater van.  The daily bus run currently covers a route with very low numbers but this has scope to grow (* at present this service is not required every day hence the need for felxibility). 

Alongside the afternoon school run, further ad hoc hours are offered for weekend trips and, on occasion, weekday activities such as sports match transport.  There are no set hours associated with this role, but someone who can offer a fluid approach to taking up work would be in an ideal position to fit in to our friendly team.

Kitchen Assistant

We have a small number of opportunities available from October 2022 for capable and enthusiastic people to join our catering team covering Weekday / Evenings or Saturday shifts during term time.  Available shifts are: 

Monday- Friday 09.00-14.45 (28.75 hours per week, daily break included)

Monday - Thursday 17.00-19.45 (11 hours per week, or could job share)

Saturday Early 07.00-13.45 (6.75 hours)

Saturday Day 09.00-13.45 (4.75 hours)

Saturday Evening 17.00-19.45 (2.75 hours - could be combined with other shifts)

Kitchen Assistant duties includes food prearation, dish washing, clearing and cleaning working areas during and after shifts.

Cleaner - Evenings

We have a positions coming available at the start of October 2022 to join our evening cleaning shift based at St Margaret's Prep School.  This position is offered for term time weeks - 36 per year, plus 4 Sping Cleaning weeks (one week at Christmas, one at Easter and 2 at the end of the Summer holidays) resulting in a contract for 40 working weeks per year.  Periods of summer lets also offer additional income.

Afternoon Porter / Handy Person 

We have an opportunity for a friendly, motivated 'handy' person (with clean UK driving licence) to join our support team to take on afternoon porter duties and light maintenance work.  The porter's role includes movement of equipment, food and supplies between the main school building, the prep school and the boarding houses using a small school van.  In between these duties, the ideal candidate should be able to pick up light maintenance and cleaning duties across the site and in the grounds.  A full job description is coming soon, however you can resgister your interest by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots.  Tennis Coach (Hitting Coach)

The Hitting Coach will be an integral member of the Tennis coaching team at St Mary’s Calne and will help to further develop our expanding coaching programme. The role will predominantly be providing hitting sessions for girls aged 11 to 18. Candidates must demonstrate a very good playing ability as well as being well organised, reliable, presentable, and enthusiastic. The successful candidate may have the opportunity to take on more responsibility within restringing, video analysis, assisting with tournaments and social events, and assisting with U11 groups.

Main Responsibilities
Work as part of the coaching team predominantly delivering individual hitting sessions for St Mary’s pupils
Work closely with the School Shop with assistance in re-stringing, racquet and equipment sales.
In line with LTA and Academy Coaching philosophies, provide clear and imaginative lesson plans to ensure progressive player development.
Work towards the theme and objectives of lesson plans.
Continue to monitor the development of the pupil and devise lessons plans that develop with them and provide challenge.
Be clear and accurate with communication.
Use demonstrations regularly and make sure information is understood.
Coordinate safe movement of equipment before, during and after all sessions.
Communicate effectively with parents of players, including providing details on progress and answering queries.
Be available to support Tennis Academy events.
Work alongside other Tennis Academy staff to ensure best practice, health and safety and advice on potential risks involved with activities.
To act as an ambassador for the Tennis Academy by abiding to good practice, behaviour and respecting fellow professionals, pupils, and parents.
Ensure LTA qualifications are kept up to date.

Venue Overview
The St Mary’s School campus is home to St Mary’s Calne, St Margaret’s Preparatory School and the St Mary’s School Sports Centre. Knowledge of developing all shots in tennis, in line with LTA Mini Tennis progressions

Prepared to work unsociable hours including weekends and bank holidays when necessary
Experience in using initiative and adapting to different situation within a tennis environment
Desirable:
Have played competitive tennis
Have coached individual and mixed groups
