Day Housemistress (boarding house supervision)

September 2019 - 47.5 hours per week, term time only

An opportunity is available to join the pastoral team within one of our Lower School Boarding Houses. The Day Housemistress assists the Housemistress in running the Boarding House during the school day as well as contributing to every aspect of the girls’ welfare and pastoral life. In addition, the Day Housemistress helps with the organisation and administration required in the successful running of the Boarding House and is expected to be enthusiastic, energetic, flexible and have the ability to relate well to the relevant age group (11-14 years). Good IT skills would be an advantage.kills are essential.

Registrar May 2019 - Full time (all year)

We are seeking a highly organised, self-motivated professional to manage the pupil recruitment and admissions process.  This is a central and significant role in the school.  The full time Registrar is responsible for managing all aspects of the admissions process, liaising with prospective parents and organising events for prospective pupils. The Registrar reports directly to the Director of Admissions, Marketing and Development, and is supported by two experienced Assistant Registrars. The Registrar plays a vital role in the efficiency of the Admissions process from initial contact through to enrolment and will deliver superb customer service alongside promoting the school to current and prospective parents.  

Excellent organisational, IT and administrative skills are essential.

School Driver September 2019 - 15 hrs per wk (term time only)

This post could be combined with the role of Estates Assistant to make a full time, all year round position – 40 hours per week.

Responsible for a daily school run for St Margaret’s pupils, the School Driver will be committed to a morning and evening designated local bus run every day during term time (36 wks per year). Approximate timings are 07.00-08.30 and 16.30-18.00.

The Driver (preferably D1 trained but training will be offered) is responsible for pre-journey vehicle checks and safe passage of students and staff.  The successful candidate will present themselves in a professional manner and be able to communicate effectively with pupils, staff and parents.

Estates Assistant May 2019,  25 to 40 hrs per wk (all year)

This post can be combined with a term time only School Minibus Driver role for St Margaret’s Preparatory School consisting of driving a designated route in both the morning and afternoon.

We have an opportunity for a practical individual to join our Estates Department contributing to the day to day school cleaning and maintenance programme.  You will possess the ability to move between all teams within the Estates Department, having a flexible approach to the working day.  You will ideally have experience of working in a caretaker type role preferably in a school environment or similar.  The role is offered on the basis of 25 hours per week during term time, rising to 40 hours per week during school holidays (when it's convenient to carry out more maintenance), however, hours  are negotiable depending on the flexibility of the candidate.

Artist in Residence September 2019, one year, one day per wk

The one year placement for an Artist in Residence offers a local Artist (this is not a residential post) the opportunity to explore their own work by benefitting from the facilities and resources of the school, while inspiring students from all year groups to develop skills and confidence in the subject.

Working every Monday during term time (35 weeks per year) from 1300-2100, you will be paid for 7.5 hours per week to include supervision of an extra-curricular evening session for students and allowing for a 30 minute unpaid break. This position would suit an individual who would like to be part of a happy and dynamic team.

Art Technician (new post)

We are seeking to appoint a skilled and experienced individual who has excellent communication skills. They would have full technician responsibilities that include managing and maintaining a variety of systems and processes in place to support the running of this busy department.  Having basic DIY skills and the ability to engage with, and provide technical support to students. This new position would suit an individual who would like to be part of a happy and dynamic team.

Life Model 

September 2019,  permanent, evening sessions - term time only

We are seeking to appoint a professional, dependable person who is flexible and accommodating. The successful candidate will be required to model in the Art Department for a two hour session each week (Monday evening), term time for the Autumn and Spring terms (September – March). Additional sessions may be required depending on student demand. The position would suit a committed and personable individual who would be keen to support the artistic aspirations of our students, being sympathetic to the boarding school context.
