Lacrosse is one of the main winter sports at St Mary’s and is taught as part of the Key Stage 3 Curriculum throughout the Autumn and Spring Terms. We have teams representing the school from U12 through to a 1st and 2nd Senior side. Lacrosse is also offered as a club to all years. The school has 3 grass pitches as well as a flood-lit astro for evening clubs and practices.
The Lacrosse Teams play fixtures on Saturdays against schools such as Downe House, Godolphin, St Swithuns, St Helens and St Katherine’s, Cheltenham Ladies College. All teams compete in the annual West Schools’ Lacrosse Tournament where last year all three junior teams qualified for the premier division and our U13 team won the whole tournament. The 1st, 2nd and U15 Teams compete in the National Schools Championships each year.
13 girls presently represent the County and the school regularly hosts the West Counties Tournament. At U15 level six girls represent Dorset and Wiltshire whilst two senior girls have gone on to represent the West and one has been selected for the Welsh National U18 team this season. Five junior girls have been selected to join the Regional Centex programme.
