Last Saturday the LVI (Year 12) Artists went on an exciting Art trip to the monumental Silbury Hill and the famous village of Lacock.
Below, LVI student, Annabel, describes the trip:
'We experimented with different materials, such as charcoal and ink, to make time-based studies and created unique patterns from the landscapes at Silbury.
We saw the Cherhill White Horse and monument and then went on to Lacock. We visited the church to draw the architecture both inside and outside, before a walk to play ‘pooh sticks’ and having a well-deserved ‘99’ ice cream. The last stop was on a hill that overlooked the whole of Wiltshire where the final task was to finish two paintings that convey your unique thoughts of the landscape in 80 minutes. This was very challenging for me, but I was encouraged to express myself using different colours and the materials. In the end, all of the students created their paintings successfully. This art trip has taught me many things, and it was very exciting to try all sorts of techniques I haven’t tried before. I know we will have more opportunities to draw both inside and outside the art studio, because no matter where we draw, we can improve our skills to express ourselves.'
