Alexa Gibb, 2021 Leaver, was awarded the Curator’s Prize at this year’s 'Presence of Absence' Art exhibition in London in November and, having recently received her prize in the post on return from university, has been in touch to express her gratitude.
'I feel honoured to have received the Curator’s Prize because my project, leading up to the artwork presented at the Presence of Absence exhibition, was a very meaningful process for me. I loved creating this project and these specific pieces as I had so much freedom from the St Mary’s Calne Art Department to explore my feelings about a topic I found fascinating: ‘impermanence’. The artistic process was an invaluable experience in the arts, learning about the level of detail and work required and a significant building block in my confidence as a creative.'
