On 6th September, after a busy day arriving back at school, we were fortunate to have a wonderful supper followed by a talk by Amy Williams MBE. Amy is a former British skeleton racer and an Olympic gold medallist, she told her story of how she came into this sport, through total coincidence, and by saying yes to trying new things. Amy also spoke about overcoming challenges in sport as she has had some setbacks involving injury, however, she never gave up.

Amy's talk was so inspiring to all who attended; she showed us that hard work and determination really do pay off, as well how important it is to never let an opportunity go by. As we are at the start of a new lacrosse and hockey season, and many of us are beginning our A Level journey or completing our UCAS applications, it was the perfect way to motivate us to take chances, always give our all and, most importantly, to never give up.
