Over the past few weeks, we have been making Christmas presents out of shoe boxes for the Foundation for Social Change and Inclusion (FSCI) as part of their annual Christmas Box Appeal. The FCSI is an organisation that works to prevent poverty and modern slavery and help transform the lives of marginalised young people across Southeast Europe. Each year they give out thousands of Christmas Boxes to help spread festive joy to people in need.
To create the Christmas Boxes, we would wrap each shoe box with Christmas wrapping paper and then they were filled with items ranging from toys, toiletries, stationery, and candy, that people will enjoy. After that, we would label each box and categorise them into the appropriate age group, according to the contents inside the box. This process was very fun as we awakened our Christmas spirit and gathered to wrap presents - as well as listen to Christmas music together!
On the 21st of November, the FCSI returned to St Mary’s to collect the boxes that had been made. Altogether, the school community made an impressive 112 boxes. These boxes are ready to be sent to children and families in Southeast Europe, who would not usually get presents on Christmas or have the budget to do anything special for the holidays.
