As part of the Sixth Form Donaldson Programme, Mrs Paddock is running some 'Cooking on a budget' workshops with the LVI (Year 12) in preparation for student life.
The LVI have been looking at recipes which are cost effective and how to use ingredients like lentils and beans as a cheaper source of protein, along with cooking in bulk and using the freezer.
This week’s recipe was spicy sausage ragu and, thanks to some keen-eyed shoppers in the group, we got a 'yellow ticket' pack of sausages which meant this week's meal cost only £1.50 per head, and it was very tasty. We now need to work on the clearing-up skills to go along with the cooking!
