On the 7th of October, we enjoyed a whole-school Mufti Day to raise money for the Calne Food Bank. This is an amazing organisation in our local community who we work with each year. The Calne Food Bank works tirelessly to ensure that they are open and available to those who need it and, with the recent pandemic and current cost of living crisis, it is needed now more than ever.

The support shown by the whole school was immense. The theme ‘you are what you eat’ inspired the opportunity to create amazing outfits. Special mentions must go to a group who came as 'chips and condiments', which they made in their free time. It was so amazing to see the whole school unite for such a great cause.

As well as raising money through the Mufti Day, we also had a Chapel where a volunteer from the food bank talked to us about running the charity. She gave us an insight into the logistics and commitment that goes into running a non-profit organisation. This allowed us an insight to how vital the food bank is to so many people and families in the local community. She also shared some shocking statistics with us, such as there are currently, in the UK, there are more towns with food banks than a McDonald's.

Overall, l it was an amazing day where we gained an understanding for the need for food banks as well having the opportuity to show our support through donations and fun costumes.
