On Saturday the new UV (Year 11) parents joined their daughters for the third event in a forward-looking week: Careers Aptitude Testing, a Careers Networking Evening and the Sixth Form Fair, to gain a real insight into all the opportunities available in the Sixth Form.
Sixth Form Fair
Dr Kirk welcomed everyone after coffee, and Ms Holloway, Director of Sixth Form, spoke about all aspects of Sixth Form life with both the continuity and support but different feel of a more independent two years, with Head Girl Sienna providing the personal, student perspective.
Heads of all our academic departments were on hand to provide guidance and insight into their own subjects and the best subject combinations, accompanied by UVI student Heads of Subject sharing their experiences. The Head Girl’s Team and staff House Team also offered tours of Helen Wright boarding house, allowing parents to see the prized ensuite study bedrooms and homely communal areas and kitchens on each floor – not forgetting the Sixth Form Bar and in-house Dining Room!
We were delighted to be able to welcome families in and hold many fruitful discussions at this early stage of evolving decisions about the girls’ futures, with parents commenting on how useful they had found the day.
