Last Thursday, the LIV and MIV set off on a 'Walk & Camp' as part of the Lower School Challenge and Adventure (CAA) programme. Although faced with showers of rain, the girls dealt with the conditions admirably and had a lots of fun along the way. Here, some of the students report on the experience:

'The LIV and MIV 'Walk & Camp' walk was lots of fun, and a memorable way to spend my birthday! We had great fun trekking up hills, and even more fun whizzing down them! Although the weather was grey, we passed lots of cheery bright yellow fields! The rain did not dampen our moods, we worked hard on developing our map reading skills and everyone supported each other to the finish. Unfortunately, because of the bad weather, the 'camp' was cancelled, but this made our experience even more unique and we enjoyed a barbecue and hot chocolate for supper!! It was one of my most enjoyable birthdays that I've spent with my friends - I'll never forget it!' Jemima, LIV

'Camp & Walk was so much fun even though there was some struggles with the rainy weather, but in the end it felt like a great achievement to have finished. We were originally going to camp out in the rain but, unfortunately, the rain was too heavy for camping. Luckily, we were still able to enjoy a fantastic barbecue. The walk was really fun with plenty of snacks and jokes for everyone.' Lucy and Lily, MIV

‘Overall, it was a great experience. I thought it was good to mix the year groups and spend time with the LIV girls, but it was a shame about the weather! Excellent preparation for DofE!’ Darcy, MIV

‘The walk was very wet, but having the goal of to getting to the next checkpoint helped to focus us and keep going. When we arrived at camp, I did feel relieved but also felt a real sense of achievement. The BBQ was scrumptious! I was sad not to camp, but at the same time it was wonderful to sleep in our own beds!’ Jade, MIV
