Last Friday, the LIV (Year 7) and MIV (Year 8) had their third and final 'Challenge And Adventure' (CAA) week at Cotswold Waterpark. It has been a fantastic three sessions for the students and they have really enjoyed the opportunity to develop their adventure skills on water. This week, they faced the added challenge of dealing with high winds. This meant, unfortunately, that the sailors were not able to take the dinghies out as they would have spent most of their time upside down! Instead, they had a go at raft building and competed against the raft building group for the best raft and who could paddle it the best. I think a few more lessons in paddling might be needed - but they seemed to be having fun!
The kayakers and canoeists did very well in the strong winds and managed to travel along the shore of the lake while the paddle boarders found the wind made things a bit wobbly.
Here, the LIV report on their Week 3 experience:
'We found we had to work together, especially in the raft building session, where we had to team up to make a raft that floats. we did kayaking, paddle boarding, and raft building; they were all so much fun! We loved it!!' Mia and Lapo
'I really enjoyed the paddle boarding; it was something that I really wanted to try but I had never got a chance to do it, so this experience was really special to me. I also had lots of fun jumping into the water! The thing that I won’t ever forget is jumping into the water and swimming over to Georgia's canoe and trying to climb in but ended up nearly flipping the canoe over!' Pandora
'Pandora, Delphina, and I enjoyed canoeing as our first activity in Cotswold Water Park. Although at first we were terrified of getting in the water, we soon started to work as a team and managed to get the canoe moving. Most of the time we were screaming and shouting because 'our canoe was sinking', but singing ABBA songs really lightened the mood and made it a memorable experience with friends. The staff were also really friendly and, overall, we made quite a few funny memories. Personally, I will never forget the look of amusement on Mrs Baldwin’s face when she saw our canoe flipped over!'
