EdSecBook TNCongratulations to our Deputy Head Academic, Mr Michael Smyth, for his inclusion in the book, ‘If I were Education Secretary… Views from the Frontline’ by Geoff Barton. Geoff Barton is the General Secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders and has written and edited over 100 books and a weekly blog for the Times Education Supplement.

This book collects the views of serving school and college leaders, policy-makers, and former education secretaries. It asks them what they would do if they were in charge, and it asks those who were once in charge what they would do differently.

Mr Smyth’s chapter, entitled ‘All Ages, Stages and Settings’ outlines a desire for talented people who work in education, such as teachers, lecturers and senior education institution leaders, to be advising civil servants and politicians - and includes a pertinent quote from prominent educationalist, Dylan Wiliam.

If you fancy reading a chapter or two, the book is available in our school library.
