Congratulations to our Swimming Coach, Mrs Nikki Harris, for setting the new British Record for the 50m Freestyle, in her age group, last week at the British Masters Championships!

The British Masters Championships is the highest level of domestic Masters swimming in Great Britain. The event, which takes place in a long course 50m pool, rotates between England, Scotland, and Wales every year.

This year, the event took place at Ponds Forge in Sheffield, which also happens to be the favourite racing pool of Mrs Harris. With no individual events this time (due to rushing off to attend a wedding!), Mrs Harris still won medals in three relays and, if that wasn’t enough, she broke the 50m Freestyle British Record (in her age group) in the lead off leg of the 4 x 50m relay! Mrs Harris finished in 29.17, smashing the previous record of 29.33.

'I am fortunate to have fantastic teammates at Tigersharks Swimming Club who allowed me the opportunity to chase the British Record in the lead leg of the relay,' said Mrs Harris of the achievement.

And we are very fortunate to have such an amazing swimming role model as our St Mary's Swimming Coach! Awesome work Mrs Harris!

Mrs Harris now has set her sights on breaking the European Long Course Record - watch this space!!
