On Tuesday the 13th June, St Mary's hosted girls and boys from local primary schools for the first of three science workshops. Session One was a Biology Workshop which explore our miscroscopic world, particularly focusing on using microscopes to view cells.

During their visit, the students learned to use a microscope to view the hidden microscopic world that surrounds our daily life. Not only were they able to observe plant cell, as well as some of their own cells, but there was also a clear air of excitement when they had the opportunity to see the heartbeat of water fleas under the microscope.

The students were a fantastic group of young scientists and we look forward to welcoming them back for Session Two.
