On Tuesday 13th June, 30 members of St Cecilia’s House visited Marden Court care home as part of Volunteer Week. The girls spent much of the previous afternoon and morning baking and making gifts for the residents, including Myra’s amazing strawberry cheesecake and dozens of cupcakes, cookies and other delicious goodies. The St C’s kitchen had never seen such hard work!
Beautiful gifts were created, including named coasters, handmade flower pressed cards and personalised canvases. These were all delivered to the residents upon arrival by the girls.
The visit included an amazing concert with piano playing by Theodora and Willa, and some beautiful singing from Coco, Grace H. and Myra Z. with Dr Gibbs on the piano.
During the warm summer afternoon, the girls entertained the residents with an exciting game of Bingo led by Ophelia and Tiwa, which the residents really enjoyed, alongside the delicious afternoon tea.
At the end of the afternoon, all the girls performed ABBA’s song Super Trouper to much applause. It was a lovely visit and great to see the girls chatting so animatedly with the residents. Marden Court really appreciated all the effort the girls went to and said their residents were buzzing about it the next day and asking when they would return again!
