This week, our LV, UV, and LVI were joined by Sabina Gray, who shared her powerful journey through addiction, prison, and rehab. Her candid talk on self-awareness, communication, and the impact of trauma resonated deeply with the pupils, who engaged thoughtfully with her story. Sabina spoke openly about her journey from a private school education in a single-sex school to early experimentation with various drugs, leading to a serious addiction that had life-changing consequences.
She explored the importance of self-awareness and communication as key elements in developing drug awareness and protecting oneself from the causes that can lead to experimentation with substances. Her talk is a powerful example of how underlying factors and trauma can lead young people to explore alternative routes for support and engagement.
The pupils were fully engaged in her story and took the opportunity at the end to ask further questions about her life and her opinions on the impact of social media on addiction, the role of peer pressure, and self-awareness.
