The first Lacrosse tournament of the season capped off a great week for lacrosse with the U18B team coming away with the Welsh Rally 2nd Team trophy. The U18Bs won five out of six games to secure overall victory, working well together, maintaining possession and creating goals through strong teamwork in attack. An outstanding performance from Layo playing up from the U15 team denied the opposition teams from scoring leaving the SMC team with an impressive goal difference.
The U18A team also had a great week with a good win against Oxford Brookes University, winning 11 – 6, playing against more experienced players. At the Welsh Rally, the team finished third with comfortable wins against Westonbirt, CLC and Marlborough, and close games against Godolphin (2-3) and Moreton (2-4).
U15B played some very competitive matches against other A team opposition. Cecily, Flora and Emi showed great speed in midfield with a number of first goals scored for players. The U15 A and B teams played each other as a last round match, they had so much fun and learnt valuable skills playing against other teams.
U15A had a successful Welsh Rally, coming 3rd in their U15 section. They started the day off with a convincing win against CLC followed by some narrow losses and a tight draw against Westonbirt. The girls felt like they are starting to gel together as a team, playing back to back matches helped develop their gameplay and teamwork. Well done to all for a great start to the lacrosse season.
