The school's Carol Service was a heartfelt highlight of the festive season. The service featured beautiful performances from the Chamber Choir and Junior Consort, and festive congregational carols, all brought together by the talented Music Department and School Chaplain, Father Jonathan Beach, who kindly reports on the service:

The School Carol Service is one of the highlights of the year and the event on Sunday afternoon certainly didn’t disappoint. On a rather gloomy December day the church was illuminated with hundreds of candles, creating a magical atmosphere. The church was full, with every seat taken, including those in St Edmund’s chapel.

Evie had the honour of beginning our worship with the first verse of ‘Once in Royal David’s City’ and sang it beautifully. The high standard of music continued with pieces from both the Chamber Choir and the Junior Consort, reprising some of what they had performed at the London Carol Service earlier in the week. The congregational carols were enhanced by a brass section that provided some real oomph!

Thank you to all the students who read so beautifully and to the students in Chamber Choir and Junior Consort; they have been preparing for the Carol Service since October. A special thanks to our talented Music Department, led by Miss Arthur, for their work in putting this event together, to the Brass Band, and to Mr Joyce accompanying the service on organ.

The Carol Service is always a time for the whole school community to come together and that Christmas spirit was continued in the drinks parties, back in Houses, that followed.
