On Thursday 6 March, the Sixth Form Geographers attended a fascinating lecture at The University of Bristol by Danny Dorling, a Professor of Human Geography at Oxford University.
Professor Dorling has published more than a dozen books on issues related to social inequalities in Britain and several hundred journal papers. His lecture focused on issues of housing, health, employment, education and poverty in the UK and globally. He presented a collection of innovative and thought-provoking graphic representations linked to these topics, and expanded our thinking exponentially.
'It was fascinating and provided a unique insight into current inequalities in ways I had not explored before.' Felicity
'The lecture was a really useful insight into studying geography at a university level and we learnt about new ways of looking at and interpreting data that are really beneficial for our geography a level exams this summer.' Georgie
The Sixth Form students were a credit to the school, asking insightful questions to the Professor at the end of the lecture.
