Today, Chloe’s Farm, a mobile zoo, came to visit as part of Academic Enrichment Week. The students were excited to meet the animals - including ducks, donkeys, a Shetland pony, rabbits and guinea pigs - and get up close with them. Chloe, a female farmer, was there to encourage interaction with her animals and talk about her life on the farm.
Chloe shared with the students what it’s like to be a woman in the farming world, explaining some of the challenges she faces in an industry where men have traditionally dominated. She talked about how much hard work it takes to run a farm, from dealing with unpredictable weather to taking care of animals every day.

But Chloe also talked about the things she loves about farming, from the connection with the animals, to the satisfaction of a job well done, and the joy that comes with working outside. She encouraged the students to follow their passions, no matter the obstacles.

As the students spent time with the animals, they asked questions about farming and what it’s really like. Chloe answered with enthusiasm, explaining how important it is for young people to think about careers in agriculture, especially for women to get involved.

By the end of the visit, the students not only had fun with the animals but also gained a lot of respect for the hard work that goes into farming. Chloe’s visit was a great reminder of the challenges and rewards of farming and how anyone can succeed if they’re determined and passionate about what they do.
