Over the past week, the Library has hosted its highly anticipated annual Scholastic Book Fair - and what a success it has been! From adventure to mystery, non-fiction to fantasy, the Book Fair offered something for every book lover, sparking a buzz of excitement across the school.
School Librarian, Dr Penny James, has been thrilled with the response. ‘Seeing so many of our students engaged in the Book Fair is just a wonderful reminder of the vibrant reading culture we have here at St Mary’s. Our library truly is a hub of creative thought and knowledge, and it’s lovely to see our girls not just choosing books but also nurturing their love for reading and sharing book recommendations with friends.’
The Scholastic Book Fair saw more than 80 books purchased, with the most popular titles being Once Upon A Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber, the Powerless Trilogy by Lauren Roberts, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, the Agency for Scandal series by Laura Wood and The Grandest Game, the first in a new series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. The event was not only a chance for students to acquire new books, but it has also raised over £200 for the Library to purchase new books through Scholastic.
The Book Fair is a perfect example of how our school community’s passion for reading is flourishing, with the Library firmly established as the go-to place for all things literary.
The Library’s next big event is a visit from Carnegie longlisted author Rachel Delahaye during next week’s Academic Enrichment Week.
