Last week, our LIVs couldn’t contain their excitement as they had the chance to try cornet, trumpet, and trombone for the first time during their free taster term on brass instruments. The room was buzzing with excitement and curiosity as they tried getting a sound out of the instruments!

'I chose the trombone and hadn't even held one before - but, surprisingly, it feels quite natural to play,' Liliana

'This cornet is quite fun to play and I like that it is small,' Lilly

'I like the feel of the cornet - it feels good to hold, and I'm finding it fairly easy to play,' Jemimah

'I think the trumpet will be quite fun to learn,' Livia

'I'm really enjoying learning how to play the different notes on the trumpet,' Holly

The Brass Taster sessions are an initiative of our Director of Music, Miss Arthur, to introduce the joy and power of brass instruments to the next generation of young musicians.

Brass teacher, Mr Chris Sanders, shared his passion for these instruments: ‘Brass instruments are incredible! Think about your favourite movie soundtrack - it’s likely filled with brass, creating that bold, cinematic feel. We want to inspire more students, especially girls, to explore these instruments and open doors to exciting performance opportunities.’

We can’t wait to see where these young musicians go next with their new brass skills!
