Dr James led an inspiring Chapel today in celebration of World Book Day, encouraging pupils to 'Read Your Way' by reflecting on where we read, how we read, and what we read for pleasure - from traditional books and places, to the growing popularity of graphic novels and 'reading on the move' with audiobooks.
She also introduced a new online magazine service and announced that World Book Day Tokens would be distributed to the boarding houses, redeemable at bookshops or through the Library. Many students have already used their tokens to choose from a fantastic selection of World Book Day books made available from the Library.
In celebration of World Book Day, the English Department launched a 'quick competition in a day,' offering a chance to win a 15-minute Book Chat with Mrs. Lord – plus drinks and snacks – in the garden this Summer Term, along with three credits and a goody bag filled with books and chocolate. Pupils simply chose a book they hadn’t read before from the 60 book covers displayed outside English 1 and emailed Mrs Lord with their book title, entering them into a draw to win.
