In January, all UIV Chemistry students at took part in the prestigious Chemistry Olympiad - a notoriously challenging two-hour examination set by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). Designed to stretch even the most capable students, the paper includes some of the most advanced topics in chemistry, many of which go well beyond the standard A Level curriculum.
In addition to the UVI cohort, a number of brave Lower Sixth (LVI) students also volunteered to sit the paper - a remarkable display of initiative and enthusiasm for the subject.
We’re thrilled to announce that three LVI students performed exceptionally well and have been awarded certificates by the RSC in recognition of their achievement:
• Millie O – Bronze Award
• Emily Z – Silver Award
• Nina L – Gold Award
Nina's achievement is particularly noteworthy: she is the first St Mary’s student in at least five years to earn a Gold Award, placing her among the top young chemists in the country.
Congratulations to all students for their outstanding performances and for representing St Mary’s with such distinction!
