Training at Avebury
Students at St Mary’s across various age groups have enjoyed two evening training sessions so far this term at Avebury Cricket Club, led by overseas player-coach Josie Penfold from New Zealand. The girls have taken part in simulated matches on the Avebury pitches, along with hardball training drills focusing on bowling and fielding, helping prepare them for their upcoming fixtures.

U15 Match v Kings Gloucester
On Tuesday 6 May, our U15s played Kings Gloucester in the first round of the U15 School Sport Magazine T20 Cup, kindly hosted at Avebury CC. Kings won the toss and chose to field first. They bowled very well to limit St Mary’s to a total of 77 from their 20 overs, with Florrie M top-scoring with 20 runs. St Mary’s made a strong start in the field, conceding just 5 runs in the first two overs from Bea I.E and Morolayo A. Cecily was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2 wickets for 9 runs, but Kings’ batting proved too strong as they chased down the target in the 14th over to win by 7 wickets.

We now look ahead to the U18 T20 against Godolphin on Friday 9 May, which will again be kindly hosted by Avebury CC.
