On Saturday 17 May, 12 pupils were selected to represent St Mary's Calne at the Independent School Girls Tennis League (ISGTL) held at Bradfield College. The team consisted of three Senior pairs from LVI and one pair each representing U16, U15 and U14, all working together to win as many sets as possible in the group stages. Competition standard was high in our group, which included Charterhouse, St Mary's Ascot and Marlborough, so our players were going to need every pupil to play to their full potential, and they certainly did that. A close win against Charterhouse and convincing win against St Mary's Ascot put us in prime position to battle it out against Marlborough College for the top spot. Marlborough brought their A game and pushed us hard and took the close victory to win the group and end up winning the tournament.
This meant we were playing for third place against Bradfield College where, once again, our team's ability and depth of talent shone through. We claimed the victory and along with it, achieved our highest ever placing in the tournament against some very talented players.
I couldn't have been prouder and happier for our girls who played fantastic tennis throughout the day and have worked hard all year to produce this wonderful performance. Congratulations girls!
