On Saturday 20th June, Dr Felicia Kirk was delighted to host a special lunch for former Headmistresses, Head Girls, Governors, Trustees and senior OGA and CGA members to celebrate the school's 150th Anniversary. Guests were given tours of school by LVI pupils followed by refreshments in the Lime Kiln Garden before a delicious lunch in Top Hall.
Since their return from exams, the LVI have been incredibly busy and really pushing the 'Calne Girls Can' ethos on different fronts. During their first weekend back, the Saturday Morning Programme saw them tackle a range of challenges under the 'Skills for Life' strand of their Donaldson Award.
Last weekend, Ms Mathias-Williams (Teacher of Geography and Independent Learning Coordinator), represented the West in the England Hockey Area Masters Tournament at Southgate Hockey Club. After seven well-fought matches across the weekend, West came in at joint third.
The highly anticipated UIV (year 9) Inter Company Lacrosse competition took place last Wednesday with everyone asking the big question - 'Could Poore continue their success from the Sixth and Fifth Form Inter Company Lacrosse competitions?' (The answer is... Yes!!)
On Tuesday, the Senior Tennis Teams travelled to Eton College for their first mixed matches of the season. The mixed doubles format was enjoyed by all, with some very close matches being played.
On Friday evening, we had our highly anticipated Hawaiian party, kindly organised by the PGSM parent reps in our year, whose effort was clearly shown through this fantastic event. Many attended - parents, house tutors, house staff and the senior leadership team - and all joined in the fun!
On Saturday evening, around 50 of our UIV, LV and LVI students had a fantastic time at a barn dance social and BBQ with Winchester College, hosted here in Calne.
This week, a group of LVI literature enthusiasts gathered in the Florence Dyas bar for the Senior Book Club meeting. The focus was Chimamanda Ngozie Adiche’s stunning and topical novel, Americanah, for which Adichie won the 2013 US National Book Critics Circle Award for fiction.
Last Friday, LVI netballers were treated to a night out at Bath University to cheer on Team Bath as they went up against Manchester Thunder in their last home fixture of the Netball Super League. Bath are 8th in the league and Manchester are 4th so it was expected to be great match - and what a match it was!
Last Thursday, on a very wet evening, Debs Wakeham (Fernie, 1989 Leaver) and her husband, Julian, kindly hosted the third of our Regional Drinks receptions.

Last Friday, the LIV (Year 7) and MIV (Year 8) had their third and final 'Challenge And Adventure' (CAA) week at Cotswold Waterpark. It has been a fantastic three sessions for the students and they have really enjoyed the opportunity to develop their adventure skills on water. This week, they faced the added challenge of dealing with high winds.
